Aquatics Certification is a dynamic, two-part course offered within the High School Physical Education & Health program. Students complete an online learning module and participate in classroom and swimming pool sessions that include drills, exercises, and realistic scenarios designed to build strong aquatic management competencies.

Through the Jeff Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP) curriculum, students learn to conduct proper emergency equipment inspections, develop and evaluate lifeguard zones of protection, perform in-water rescues with appropriate follow-up emergency care and apply effective strategies to reduce risk and mitigate health and safety hazards as professional rescuers and first responders.

Students demonstrate their skills, understanding and leadership through hands-on teach-back sessions, individually and in teams, reinforcing the real-world scenarios practiced throughout the course.

Those who successfully complete all components of this internationally recognized program earn a one-year certification, with eligibility for annual renewal.
