Learning at ASD

ASD is committed to academic excellence, providing an international perspective and a comprehensive education, and preparing every student to be future-ready. ASD follows the common core and standards-based learning models for classroom instruction and student assessment, focusing on student mastery of concepts and skills.

Our PreK-12 Experience

Learning at ASD is intentionally designed to grow with each student. In the Early Learning Center and Elementary School, collaborative learning spaces strengthen the foundations of teaching and learning through exploration, creativity, and engagement. In Middle School, design thinking and inquiry-based learning encourage students to explore individual interests, while signature experiences such as Week Without Walls extend learning beyond the classroom through immersive, experiential travel. In High School, students pursue academic rigor and personal growth through Advanced Placement offerings and Inspire experiences, which are cultural, eco-adventurous, and service-learning opportunities that deepen global understanding. Anchoring this journey, the Center for Design and Innovation for Public Purpose empowers Middle and High School students to apply creativity and entrepreneurial thinking toward purposeful social impact.

The Teaching & Learning Center

The ASD Teaching and Learning Center (TLC)  serves a dual purpose: supporting continuous student learning and partnering with faculty and departments to advance the school's mission. The TLC fosters professional dialogue grounded in research-based best practices for curriculum alignment, assessment, and instruction. Through collaboration and shared expertise, our faculty work together to strengthen their practices and enhance learning outcomes for all students.

Beyond the Classroom

Learning at our school continues when the school day ends through athletics, the arts, and campus recreation - programs designed to develop the whole child. These experiences are a vital extension of our mission, fostering confidence, creativity, collaboration, and well-being while helping students discover their passions and purpose. Whether representing the Falcon pride on the field, performing on stage, or finding one's voice in our numerous clubs, these opportunities cultivate skills, values, and connections that prepare our students for academic success and for life beyond ASD.
