At the American School of Dubai, we are excited to propose the launch of "Propeller," a groundbreaking project designed to empower our sophomores to pursue their passions, cultivate entrepreneurial thinking, and contribute meaningfully to the public good. Propeller will be a unique, self-directed project-design experience that combines creativity, innovation, and real-world problem-solving. As a new addition to our Center for Design and Innovation for Public Purpose, Propeller will further our commitment to harnessing creativity and innovation to address societal challenges.
Building on the foundational skills students have developed up to this point in their education, Propeller will provide an opportunity for students to bring their ideas to life. With the guidance of dedicated faculty mentors and access to cutting-edge studios and resources, students will engage in a journey of discovery, design, and implementation, transforming their ideas into tangible outcomes that address real-world challenges and serve a greater public purpose.
The name "Propeller" reflects our vision for the project—to propel students forward in their personal and academic growth, while encouraging them to explore uncharted territories and take flight with their ambitions. The project will serve as a launchpad for students to explore their unique interests, gain practical experience, and develop the confidence and skills needed to excel in an ever-changing world.
Through Propeller, we aim to inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and ignite a passion for lifelong learning, ensuring that our students are prepared to lead, thrive, and make a positive impact on their communities and the world.
