Core Design and Innovation - Film Production is a student-driven course that explores the four elements of film and introduces the role of editing as a core component of the filmmaking process. Through hands-on practice filming and editing using Final Cut ProX, learners explore how combining moving images sequentially can shape and guide a story, create emotional and aesthetic effects, and generate meaning. As well as considering the role of filmmaker, this module invites the maker to shape raw and/or found material and will situate for learners within the CDI program these skills within the broader context of principles that extend across diverse art and design forms. Practical skill development will culminate in a personal project that may comprise an original filmmaking project or found footage editing. We recommend students have their own camera for this module.
