We embrace the power of technology in order to reimagine the learning environment, personalize learning pathways, and cultivate collaboration, communication and innovation within and beyond the walls of ASD.
ASD believes that information and technology literacy skills are essential for students to thrive as engaged, ethical contributors in a constantly evolving and complex global society. ASD is a one-to-one laptop school where students in Grades 6-12 use an Apple laptop in the classroom. Information about the ASD laptop program is shared with Grade 6-12 families upon enrollment. Laptops are purchased individually by parents.
Technology is an integral part of core classroom instruction. High School Technology Coaches support faculty to integrate technology in the classroom and support technology literacy skills for students. ASD also offers a range of computer science and technology electives to provide choice for students interested in expanding their learning in topics such as Mobile App Development, Computer Programming, Video Broadcasting, and more.
An important aspect of the ASD technology philosophy is digital citizenship. Students sign a Technology Responsible Use Policy that outlines what constitutes acceptable, responsible, and safe use of technology.
