American School of Dubai was established in 1966 and benefits from a rich and diverse history and strong reputation in the region. The success that ASD enjoys today is a result of the tireless work and service of those before us. ASD serves approximately 1,900 students, Kindergarten through Grade 12, with nearly 300 faculty and dedicated staff and more than 7,000 alumni and former students having impact all over the world.
ASD is committed to academic excellence and the emotional, physical and social well being of all students and to providing an international perspective and a comprehensive education. Maintaining small class sizes, high consistent standards and a commitment to curriculum aligned with US college preparatory schools, ASD challenges itself to deliver strong curriculum by investing in professional development for teachers and to lead learning innovations based on best practices. In 2014, ASD became one of only 100 schools worldwide to offer the College Board AP Capstone diploma program which further enhances the rich educational opportunities at ASD. The program is earned when students complete four AP courses as well as the two years of Capstone AP courses and complete an independent project.
