Last week, two teams from ASD competed in the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions, hosted by Yale University. This event is a unique opportunity for scholars to compete across six subjects and in four domains: debate, collaborative writing, content challenge, and quiz bowl.

Placing soundly in the top one hundred out of a field of 596 teams from 82 countries, ASD took home several team trophies as well as a variety of gold and silver medals.

In the overall standings, the team of Haejun L., Max C., and Chan-Seok H. placed 24th. Rounding out the 94th spot was the team of Callie W., Anjika B., and Siddarth S.

In team debate, both teams placed exceptionally well, coming in eleventh and seventeenth.

ASD’s top scholar, Haejun, took home several individual trophies, most notably, second place overall scholar, third for individual debate, and fortieth in writing.

Congratulations to all six students and their coach, Mr. Gavin Chamberlain!
