Grade 8 French students talk the talk and walk the catwalk as they celebrate the end of their vocabulary unit on clothing.

Students in 8th grade French class ended the vocabulary unit on clothing on a fashionable note this week. To reinforce their study and use of French words related to clothing and accessories, the students engaged in interactive projects throughout the unit that culminated in a Défilé de Mode (Fashion Show). For their projects, the students began by visiting two major online French retail sites, La Redoute and Galeries Lafayette, to create personal fashion portfolios using vocabulary from class and new words and fashion terms learned on the websites. Students then came to class for one day this week, dressed in some of their favorite, school-appropriate, clothing and accessories. They paired off, with each student required to write a detailed description of what his or her classmate was wearing. The description was then read aloud as each student walked down the catwalk with points being earned for pronunciation, use of vocabulary, accuracy, and proper grammar.
