Holiday Cheer at ASD

Dec. 15, 2011

Winter concerts, Fun with Santa, Family Library Night: ASD ends 2011 on a festive note.

Winter Concert Series

Dec. 5-Dec. 14, 2011

The middle school band and choir opened the ASD winter concert series with beautifully performed pieces ranging from the modern—Hard Rock Blues—to the traditional—Three Russian Folks Songs.

A few evenings later, the high school band and choir showcased an array of crowd-pleasers, including Celtic Suite, Fantasia for Christmas, Joy to the World and Thirty Second Fa La La.

Festive music even made its way to the HS/MS Library, with impromptu lunchtime performances by choir students and band teachers of holiday favorites like Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer and Jingle Bells.

The ASD winter concert series ended with delightful song and folk dance performances by the Elementary School, including Chubby Little Snowman, Ding Dong the Bells Do Ring, and Barbereinlender (Norwegian folkdance).

Family Library Night

December 12, 2011

Elementary school students, dressed in cozy pajamas, and their families enjoyed an evening of fun at the Elementary School Library’s annual Family Library Night. Students and families shared in festive story telling, kept busy at the various craft tables, and enjoyed delicious holiday treats.

Fun with Santa

Dec. 9, 2011

It did not matter who’d been naughty or nice, a great time was had by all that afternoon: Kids delighted in meeting Santa. Students, parents, and staff got in some shopping at the Christmas Bazaar. Anyone wanting to engage in friendly competition could enter tug-of-war contests, relay races, and impromptu soccer matches on the field. And those in search of quieter pursuits stopped at the many holiday arts and crafts tables or at the North Pole’s Story Land for some relaxing story time.
